Project Timeline

20 days

Cyclone Idai Data Stories is a public-interest data visualization project exploring the demand and supply of relief efforts to Cyclone Idai in Mozambique. Our hope is to spur a thoughtful and reflective dialogue about how to better respond to natural disasters and climate refugees in poor countries.

‘Resettlement’ communicates the distribution of displaced individuals

‘Relief’ shows the reported need and how/where resources were allocated

‘Return’ captures the change in perception and expectation of displacement.

The design was inspired by the ‘Metoomentum’ created by Valentina D’Efilippo and Lucia Kocincova.

Data collection & analysis

Pulled data from Mozambican government, UN Agency, & Aid Relief Partners
